Houston Business Journal's 2017 Landmark Award Winner - Special Project
1,140,000 sq. ft.
HarrisonKornberg Architects (Architect-of-Record), in collaboration with Walker Parking, designed a new a four (4) story, 3000-car parking garage at William P. Hobby Airport. The project includes a pedestrian sky bridge connecting the parking garage to the new West Concourse Federal Inspection Station. The elevator lobby of the parking garage is a 11,400 SF; 4 level; long rectilinear space with a wide, open stair at one end and a bank of elevators at the other end.
One side of the entire length of the lobby is curtainwall, bringing in a lot of natural light to the space. Durable large format porcelain tiles will be used to finish the remaining walls including the elevator bank. The lobby has been designed to look elegant and sophisticated with the use of a rhythmic arrangement of light fixtures in the metal ceilings and a curvilinear pattern in the terrazzo floors that will go around the circular concrete columns and flow into the pedestrian bridge at the top level.
