North Harris College Dining Hall
Lone Star Community College System

Completed 2008
18,000 sq. ft.

Lone Star College tasked HarrisonKornberg with making their aging North Harris Campus dining hall the new social hub of the campus. In response, HarrisonKornberg totally reimagined the function, look and feel of the existing 18,000sf facility to create a bustling center of student interaction.

The formerly institutional cafeteria gave way to a bold new food court concept, complete with new graphics and strong visual themes. Redesigned spaces allow for different dining areas – quiet, active, group, lone diner and private. The dining areas flow outside to remodeled courtyard spaces for increased and diverse seating. The updated servery layout achieves better flow and visibility of food options, while a new kitchen optimizes available space. A new lounge/computer center and coffee bar operate from early ‘til late, and reinforce the facility’s position as the center of student life. The program also includes preliminary designs for a conference center to be added to the complex in the future.
