The restaurant building was originally built circa 1910 as a fashionable home on Houston's Montrose Boulevard. During the 1980's and 1990's the once elegant house was home to several mediocre restaurants and some very inappropriate renovations.
For 43 Brasserie, a trendy, upscale restaurant with a walk-up counter for ordering and food pickup, we razed a poorly added sun room and the original entry stoop. We also removed most of the interior walls, except those separating the public and private restaurant spaces, to completely open and transform the building.
A contemporary addition with ample glass on the first floor, an outdoor terrace on the second floor and custom designed exterior light fixtures compliments the original structure without attempting mimicry.
Both historic building and modern addition can be read clearly for what they are.
