North Harris College Dining Hall
Lone Star Community College System

Completed 2008
18,000 sq. ft.

Lone Star College tasked HarrisonKornberg to make their aging North Harris Campus dining hall the new social hub of the campus. In response, HarrisonKornberg totally reimagined the function, look and feel of the existing 18,000 square foot facility to create a bustling center of student interaction.

The formerly institutional cafeteria gave way to a bold new food court concept, complete with new graphics and strong visual patterns. Redesigned spaces now allow for different dining areas – quiet, active, group, lone diner and private. The dining areas flow outside to remodeled courtyard spaces for increased and diverse seating. The updated servery layout achieves better flow and visibility of food options, while a new kitchen optimizes available space. A new lounge/computer center and new coffee bar operate from early till late, and reinforce the facility’s position as the center of student life. The program also includes preliminary designs for a future conference center to be constructed at a later date.
